Panel: Poor editing downfall of writers

POOR EDITING IS proving to be a major downfall for Barbadian writers.

Chairman of the Frank Collymore Literary Endowment Committee, Antonio “Boo” Rudder, made that observation at the 18th annual awards at the Grand Salle of the Central Bank on Saturday evening.

In his 2015 report, Rudder noted that the winning entries came from among the first three of the 71 entries, and that editing was the common denominator.

“It has been suggested that the success of early entries is indicative of the importance of early planning and preparation, thereby avoiding the stress of rushed editing and its pitfalls. In fact, we are still seeing evidence that many writers are wrecking their masterpieces on the jagged reef of poor editing.
