THE NUMBER ONE regatta on the racing scene is expected to lift Barbados among the sailing community.

Owner of Britain’s successful offshore racing crew Team Concise, Tony Lawson said the Mount Gay Round Barbados Race Series race series, which sails off on Saturday and run to Monday will be effective in promoting Barbados on the world map.

“We will put Barbados back at the centre of the racing world. . .We came here to promote Barbados as a sailing destination and I think that’s working very well already,” Lawson said at a press conference at the Drift Ocean Terrace, Holetown, St James, yesterday.

The owner of the crew, which is also sailing  Ms Barbados, the 70ft Trimaran and one of the fastest yachts in the world added that their sister ship Fado closely matched the features of the Barbadian boat but they would do their best to rev up their engine to be the winner and make the nation proud.
