STEVEN ALLAN, under the brilliance of jockey Jalon Samuel, impressively won a stretch duel with Northern Star by a head to take the 26th running of the Michael Parravicino Memorial Hopeful Breeders’ Stakes And Trophy Grade-II over 1 570 metres for Barbados-bred three-year-olds yesterday at the Garrison Savannah.

Owned by Allan and Steve Madoo, the colt by Kit Fisto out of Royal Cavalier raced mid division early as the second favourite Pay As You Go contested the first three furlongs with Northern Star.

Following them were Midnite Chick, Poetry In Motion and Pacha going along the backstretch.

Northern Star, with jockey Rickey Walcott up, stuck his head in front as Pay As You Go had come under heavy pressure, while still travelling four lengths better than the then third placed Poetry In Motion. (LY)
