BARBADOS IS GETTING READY to have a new top diplomat in Washington.

That’s because John Beale, Ambassador to the United States and the Organisation of American States since 2007, is due to leave his diplomatic posting at the end of April.

“I can confirm that I will be leaving,” Beale, a former banker in Bridgetown, told the DAILY NATION. “It has been a wonderful experience and a distinct honour to have been able to serve our country in this capacity for so many years. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

“Being ambassador in Washington is a major posting in the life of any diplomat, whether a career representative or a political appointee.”
