RABBIT MEAT could soon be on the Barbadian market again at $10 per pound.

This is according to Ena Harvey, Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture representative to Barbados, as she and New Zealand High Commissioner Jan Henderson toured the Greenland Livestock Research Station in Greenland, St Andrew, yesterday.

“We will soon be selling rabbit meat on the local market. There is a three-month turnover and it is a very lucrative market for young farmers looking to get into this line of work,” she said.

Harvey added that 30 students, 15 of whom were youths, were acquiring their Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) in rabbit production.
