Share post:

SOME girls who have passed through the Government Industrial School (GIS) are ending up on the streets as sex workers, the SUNDAY SUN has been told.

An official with close connections to the school for delinquent children said this was among the preliminary findings of a study.

“We are awaiting the release of the study,” the official said.

It was pointed out that officials were putting measures in place to try to prevent such an outcome among the girls now housed at Barrows, St Lucy.

The official added they were also aware that the majority of boys – based at Dodds, St Philip – ended up in prison after leaving the institution.
