MELINDA ASHTON has only been involved in agriculture for three years, but in that time she has grown some whopper pumpkins. Earlier this week she reaped an 81-pound pumpkin. This year she had three massive pumpkins, but unfortunately two were destroyed by tractors. Last year she had a pumpkin that weighted 68 pounds.
The employee of Bleak House Plantation, Indian Ground, St Peter, said the pumpkin took almost three months to reach maturity.
The pumpkin is expected to be cut up and shared.
Ashton added that she was aiming to reach the 100-pound mark sometime soon. (LK)
