THE MOTHER of a suspended student is being counselled to accept a transfer because the environment at Springer Memorial Secondary School has already been “bloodied”.

Minister of Education Ronald Jones yesterday advised the mother of the student, who has been caught up in a more than month-long disciplinary dispute, to accept the transfer to the Ellerslie Secondary School. He also criticised the actions of the mother to date.

“Today they are parents who are more bent on challenging the way schools function; the discipline and the order schools try to put in place. I respect and understand people’s democratic rights to accept or reject various policies or procedures, but this is one that has really gone beyond the pale,” Jones told the MIDWEEK NATION.

He was speaking after the official launch of Slow Food’s Twelve Gardens In 12 Months campaign at Ellerton Primary School, St George.
