BEING OUT OF school for close to eight weeks, and the publicity surrounding it is taking its toll on the 15-year-old Springer Memorial student at the centre of an ongoing controversy.

Speaking for the first time since her mother, Elecia Weekes, brought her matter to public attention, the girl yesterday described  the mental and physical effects she has  been experiencing.

“[I am] depressed and devastated. I don’t even want to go back to school,” the child told the DAILY NATION yesterday.

Quite apart from that, she said she has not had  a good night’s rest for some time now. “I does wake up every couple of minutes,”  she said.
