UWI back on top

THE UNIVERSITY OF THE WEST INDIESĀ (UWI) regained top spot, neighbourhood Care Pharmacy Weymouth Wales stayed among the front-runners and Mackeson Brittons Hill produced a masterful display when the Digicel Premier League continued last Sunday at the Barbados Football Association (BFA) Wildey AstroTurf.

UWI Blackbirds narrowly defeated Empire 2-1 in the opening fixture before Wales blanked Claytons Kola Tonic Notre Dame 3-0 and Mackeson Brittons Hill beat Rendezvous 2-0.

The Blackbirds moved on to 12 points, thanks to their fourth successive victory.

UWIā€™s Jairo Lombardo opened the scoring in the 11th minute but Empire replied five minutes before half-time through Reynaldo Lewis. But through some good fortune from terrible goalkeeping, UWI secured three points in the 78th minute when Mario Harte converted his sixth goal of the season. (ROG)
