GOVERNMENT BACKBENCHER James Paul is calling for a swift resolution to the Springer Memorial School debacle which has been in the media for the past month.

It has been about ten weeks since a 15-year-old student was barred from classes following her refusal to retrieve and dispose of a piece of garbage when instructed to do so by her year head.

Her name has been removed from the school roll and her mother Elecia Weekes has met with Minister of Education Ronald Jones to have the matter resolved – including by transfer to another school – but so far that has been unsuccessful.

Paul, Member of Parliament for St Michael West Central, said the issue should never have been that public. (RA)
