It is a development which concerns Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite, who is placing most of the blame on parents.

He told an audience at a Men’s Educational Support Association (MESA) meeting Tuesday; “Many of these young girls who you see walking and misbehaving are misbehaving because of the serious issues that they have within the households – either lack of parental guidance from the female – because lots of them are in single parent households – or they are being abused by their fathers, their uncles . . .”

With incidences of young women disappearing from home being constantly reported, Brathwaite said in most cases the young women were “victims running away from a less than wholesome home environment”.
