AN UNEMPLOYED MAN is now homeless after fire destroyed his two-bedroom home in Boscobel, St Peter, on Monday night, leaving him with just the clothes on his back and a car.

Nickalai Greaves, 27, was not at home when the fire quickly engulfed the house and damaged the back of a nearby one.

A neighbour told the MIDWEEK NATION: “I was in my bed lying down and my little girl came and told me that they have fire out there. Lots of fellas from the area came and tried to help, trying to wet the fire and the nearby houses. It’s a good thing that the water was on [or] the house in front would have been destroyed as well.”

Colin Jordan, Barbados Labour Party candidate for St Peter, along with Dave Hurley of the St Peter District Emergency Organisation, visited the scene and said they would be seeking assistance for the victim. Two water tenders and eight officers, under the command of Station Officer Clarence Hinds, responded. (RL)
