THE NATIONAL Block Draughts Tournament is achieving its objective of bringing to light the true potential of players within communities.

Minister of Sport Stephen Lashley made this assertion in his feature address at the presentation ceremony to reward the participating teams on Monday night at the Ministry of Sport, Youth and Culture, Sky Mall, Haggatt Hall.

“We wanted to ensure that we could queue the block men and women of Barbados, that we could try to ensure that you could rise to the occasion of using your talent and your skill for the betterment of the community and become role models for the young men and women of your communities,” Lashley said.

He said the tournament was inaugurated with the intention of producing other world champions like Ronald “Suki” King and for those who were a part of the block culture to use their skills to achieve positive things within the community which would improve the overall state of the country.
