THE LOCAL construction sector is about to get a major boost, and Barbadians looking for work in the building industry a fresh set of opportunities.

They are coming from the opening of a new industrial park at Lears, St Michael, where real estate veteran Andrew Mallalieu disclosed that more than a dozen of 30-odd lots had been snapped up even before the infrastructural work has been completed.

The chief executive officer of Terra Caribbean Limited attributed the rapid success of lot sales so far to the decision of the developer, C.O. Williams Construction, to put them on the market at $20 per square foot.

Mallalieu described the interest as peculiar, noting that all around this project there were others offering commercial lots for sale for some time, including the nearby Dayrells Park, Lower Estate and south  of Hothersal Turning.
