A BARBADIAN COMPANY owed more than a quarter of a million dollars by British company Harlequin is contemplating court action to recover its losses.
Simmons Electrical Co. Ltd’s management was left shocked three years ago to learn via the media of the developer’s abrupt departure from the island.
Now, the business has contacted its lawyer and is reviewing its legal options in the wake of Harlequin’s apparent return to Barbados, and the recent restart of work at its H Hotel property in Hastings, Christ Church.
News of this comes as reports out of the United Kingdom indicate that last month the British High Court ordered Harlequin Property chairman David Ames and his wife Carol to pay 24 investors £1.3 million (BDS$3.7m) to settle claims.
