THE DISABLED COMMUNITY will have its say today when a petition is presented to Prime Minister Freundel Stuart for the Road Traffic Act to be amended to fully accommodate parking for disabled people.

The group met at the Browne’s Beach facility where president of the Barbados Council for the Disabled Maria Holder-Small made some remarks before heading to Government Headquarters.

She said the petition has about 12 000 signatures and thanked members of the community and others for their support.

The aim is to make it mandatory for all public places to have parking for disabled people and for fines to be put in place for able-bodied individuals who use these spaces. (TG)
