THOUSANDS OF COMMUTERS could be left stranded next week as operators of Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) are supposed to go on strike for two days.
However, Minister of Transport and Works Michael Lashley has summoned members of the Association of Public Transport Operators (APTO) and the Alliance of Public Service Vehicles Operators (APSVO) to an emergency meeting today in what they believe is an attempt to avert the action planned for Tuesday and Wednesday.
But a PSV source told the WEEKEND NATION yesterday that the Minister “would have to come good” in order for them to abandon the action.
The operators are upset that a number of issues affecting them have not been addressed since last September when they called off a planned strike then after Lashley also intervened and “promised” to deal with those issues. (MB)
