EVEN AFTER RETIRING from the New York Police Department (NYPD), Judy Newton is still dedicated to serving.

The Barbadian-born former detective, who left public service four years ago, said she was passionate about supporting those who need assistance and started with the City Breakfast Programme.

From 5 a.m. yesterday Newton was at the St Ambrose Community Centre at Cypress Street, The City, where the programme is conducted.

Over 60 children from the catchment area participated in the programme, undertaken by the nearby St Ambrose, River Road New Testament, the St Patrick’s Roman Catholic and the Bethel Methodist churches. Newton, who runs her own non-profit Newton Foundation and is a member of the Barbadian Ex-Police Organisation, said she had not forgotten her roots. (TG)
