A & A shed torn down

BREAK THE BUILDING codes and suffer the consequences.

That was the message from one Town & Country Planning official as a team from Ministry of Transport & Works (MTW) tore down a structure at Jackson, St Michael, yesterday.

Backed by a heavy police presence, the MTW workers worked diligently to demolish an illegally built galvanised sheet structure at A & A Wholesale.

“This morning we’re removing a galvanised shed that is being used for storage. We don’t serve on the storage; we serve on the structure which was [an] unauthorised erection of a galvanised shed,” said the Town and Country official.

Despite protests from those connected, the Government official said he hoped the action would serve as a deterrent to other people who illegally erected structures. (AD)
