Ex-PRO battles Training Board

A FORMER public relations/marketing officer with the Barbados Vocational Training Board has insisted she is eminently qualified for the job even though she did not possess the paper qualifications stated in the ad for the job.

Valerie Payne, who held the job from 2011 to October 2013 when her contract was not renewed, has brought a claim of unfair dismissal against the BVTB and is asking the Employment Rights Tribunal to reinstate her to the post. However, the BVTB is claiming that Payne lied about her qualifications and was rightly terminated.

The matter was adjourned with no appointed date for resumption, with Payne set to face further cross-examination from the board’s attorney Vincent Watson. (HLE)
