Woman charged in Speightstown road fatality

MORE THAN FIVE MONTHS after a man lost his life in an accident in Speightstown, St Peter, police have arrested and formally charged an elderly woman.

She is 70-year-old Marlene Spencer-Corbin of Heywoods, St Peter, who has been charged with Death by Dangerous Driving.

Norman Foster, 71 formerly of Boscobelle, St Peter was struck on November 13 last year while walking along Goddings Alley.

The vehicle Spencer-Corbin was driving became involved in an accident with a van owned by 51-year-old Victor Headley of Maynards Development, St Lucy. The van was operated as Jacko’s Food Stop.

At the time, Foster received injuries to his head and body while Headley complained of pains about his body and both were taken to hospital by ambulance. Spencer-Corbin received private medical treatment.

Foster died the following day at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Spencer-Corbin was granted bail with one surety when she appeared at the District E/Holetown Magistrates Court today. She is scheduled to return to Court on September 5. (PR/SAT)
