THE ISLAND’S ATTORNEY GENERAL has dismissed suggestions that the Bail Act should be amended so that people charged with murder cannot get bail at the High Court.
What needs to be done, said Adriel Brathwaite, is that the court process must be sped up and legislation is in the draft stages to do just that.
He was speaking at a meeting of the Democratic Labour Party’s St James South branch on Sunday night.
Brathwaite said murder accused were released under the Bail Act and he was not persuaded the law should be amended to disallow should a practice. (HLE)
