Man missing at sea following drug operation

TWO MEN ARE in police custody assisting with the seizure of $1.6 million in cannabis on a boat last night while a third man is missing at sea.

Members of the Drug Squad and Barbados Coast Guard intercepted the boat about four nautical miles off the West Coast around 8:50 p.m.

Police public relations officer Acting Assistant Superintendent David Welch said the boat sank due to unfavourable conditions at sea.  He said officers seized 814 pounds of cannabis and detained two men, a Barbadian and a Vincentian.

A third man who was on board was not found and Welch said rescue searches were being conducted. (PR/NB)
