A JOKE! That was how comedian Trevor “Dynamite” Eastmond described the sentence handed down to one of two men charged with stealing US$6 000 from his home in February.

Nineteen-year-old Kemo Jaleel Carter spent two months on remand before he was recently sentenced to 12 months at Her Majesty’s Prison Dodds when he appeared before Magistrate Ian Weekes in the District “D” Magistrates’ Court.

The Spring Farm, St Thomas resident, on an earlier occasion, pleaded guilty in relation to the theft of US$3 000 of the amount and a wallet from Eastmond’s home. Thus far, almost half of the original sum has been recovered and police investigations continue but Eastmond voiced disappointment with the punishment meted out to the first offender.

In an interview with the WEEKEND NATION, the entertainer charged that Barbados’ judicial system was a joke. (SDB Media)
