Urgent blood appeal

THE QUEEN ELIZABETH HOSPITAL is making an urgent appeal for blood.

Saleh Merritt, 61, who has been hospitalised in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit in critical condition since May 10, is in urgent need of B Negative and O Negative blood.

People between age 17 and 70 who are interested in donating blood may visit the Blood Collection Centre, Ladymeade Gardens, Jemmotts Lane, St Michael.

The opening hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The public is reminded that diabetics on insulin, or those who have had a tattoo, body piercing or acupuncture within the last year, are not permitted to give blood.  (PR/SAT)
