WEST INDIES’ head coach Phil Simmons has cautioned fans not to read too much into the two successive losses by the regional team against a Barbados Select XI in a two-match warm-up series.
After going down by 50 runs in Wednesday’s day/night encounter at Kensington Oval, and without as many of five of their 14-member squad, the West Indies suffered yet another defeat at the hands of the local outfit, losing by four wickets in yesterday’s second and final match at the 3Ws Oval.
Simmons expressed the opinion that despite the two losses he was confident that the Windies would perform well in the upcoming Tri-Nation One-Day series against Australia and South Africa.
“Although we didn’t put things in place in the two practice games, the net sessions and the way we worked in the practice sessions were brilliant. I believe that the batting will come together and we will get bigger scores as we go on,” he told the SATURDAY SUN.
