TEARS OF JOY and smiles soon turned into sobs and frowns of frustrations when the Barbados team at the Taste Of The Caribbean culinary event here suffered a crushing blow after receiving a silver medal in the Team Of The Year category on Friday night.
To strains of Bob Marley’s One Love, it was all camaraderie at the awards dinner on the last night of the culinary event.
But the drama started when the master of ceremonies came to the final list for the Team Of The Year winners. With 13 islands participating this year, the bronze medals were first given to team Jamaica and Suriname. Then silver medals were given to Anguilla, Bonaire, USVI, St Maarten/St Martin, Turks and Caicos and Curacao.
