UWI retain Twenty20 title

SAGICOR UWI won the Barbados Cricket Association’s Sagicor General Twenty20 title for the second straight year after easily defeating the Barbados Defence Force Sports Programme by 66 runs in the final at the 3Ws Oval on Thursday night.

Jonathan Carter, who was with the West Indies team for their first four matches of the Ballr Cup Tri-Nation One Day International cricket series but did not play in any of the encounters with Australia and South Africa, was named Man of the Match for his top score of 47 in UWI’s challenging total of 186 for seven.

After only arriving in the island from St Kitts earlier the same day, the left-handed Carter came to the crease at No. 5 and struck four sixes and a four in a 28-ball knock.

Fast bowler Dario Seale was the most successful bowler for the BDF Sports Programme with four wickets for 37 runs.

In reply, the BDF Sports Programme were restricted to 120 for six in their 20 overs.
