Heavier police presence in Brittons Hill

WITHIN THE PAST WEEK, Brittons Hill has been a hotspot for violence.

Very soon however, it will become a hotspot for police.

Residents from the two neighbouring communities can now sleep a little bit easier with the news that police will be increasing their presence in the St Michael district with immediate effect.

That decision was taken yesterday evening following a walk-through of both areas by several high ranking police officers in the wake of two recent shootings.

Shortly after meeting with several residents in Valery, Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Eucklyn Thompson, who led the initiative, told members of the media the majority of people who had interacted with police had asked for a bigger police presence. (RB)
