STUDENTS of the St George Secondary School downed their books and headed into the surrounding community to meet and greet their neighbours yesterday.

Principal Sonja Goodridge made it clear that despite the society’s view of the school they were determined to shine and to make their contribution as about 150 pupils made their way for a 5K walk through the central parish from Constant, where the school is located, to the Harry Cox Road.

Senior teacher Shawn Forde said the students represented all areas: athletics, netball, cricket and the general student body.

“They are very happy to see this initiative and to bridge the community and the school. So we are going out in the proper attire with the theme one school, one community [capped with the words] one love,” he said. (MR)
