POLICE HAVE LAUNCHED an investigation into a social media posting hinting of a bloody disruption to the major Crop Over jump-up, Foreday Morning Jam.

Lawmen issued a press release yesterday stating that the force had been made aware of the circulation of a conversation on social media pertaining to “foreday”.

“The force has taken the conversation seriously and an investigation has been launched. We want to assure the public that all appropriate measures will be taken throughout the Crop Over season to provide a safe environment for all persons in association with other law enforcement agencies and private security,” the statement read.

The Whatsapp message first surfaced over the weekend, creating a level of unease about the street party following a claim that members of the gang underworld in Brittons Hill could be plotting to avenge the murder of former apprentice jockey Rico “Brains” Reid during the upcoming event. (AC)
