THE DREAM is over – for now.
Darian King’s historic quest to make it into the main draw of a Grand Slam was cut short yesterday after Barbados’ top-ranked tennis pro lost his second round Wimbledon qualifying match at the All England Club.
Facing world No.117 Adam Pavlasek from the Czech Republic, King lost a hard-fought 6-3, 6-4 contest on court 13 in just over an hour of play.
“I think Darian played a good first set but the guy played two good points at 3-2 to break Darian, so a break was the only real difference early in the match,” said King’s older brother and coach Christopher. (JM)
