SET UP BY a responsible century from Darren Bravo and a fiery three-wicket burst by pacer Shannon Gabriel, the West Indies thrashed South Africa by 100 runs last night to secure a place in tomorrow’s grand final against Australia.
Sent in to bat, the West Indies recovered from the dire straits of 21 for four to post a challenging 285 in 49.5 overs in their day-night Ballr Cup Tri-Nations One-Day International at Kensington Oval, yesterday.
In reply, South Africa, once again lived up to their reputation as chokers in this format, as they disappointingly folded for a modest 185 in 46 overs.
The burly Gabriel, playing in just his second ODI, fired out Quinton de Kock (6), Faf du Plessis (3) and captain A.B. de Villiers for just two in a pacy five-over new-ball spell for the impressive figures of three for 17. (EZS)
