ANOTHER CROP OVER FESTIVAL is here, and the Barbados Road Safety Association has a question for the powers that be.

Where is the long-promised breathalyser testing?

President of the association, Sharmaine Roland-Bowen, is concerned that, once again, binge drinkers will be driving from fete to fete this season.

And there was still no way to legally prevent it.

She said the legislation involving breathalysers should be enacted, and accused Government of dragging its feet on something that would protect thousands of drivers from themselves.

“All we are getting is talk from the minister, but we are not seeing any action,” Roland-Bowen told the SUNDAY SUN. “All the binge drinking that will be going on Crop Over now, won’t stop people from drinking and driving. For some people, impairment starts with just one drink.” (BA)
