NCC boss: Beach signage critical

THERE NEVER WAS, and never will be any compromise where beach signage in Barbados is concerned.

Not when it has to do with the livelihood of both locals and visitors, said general manager of the National Conservation Commission (NCC), Keith Neblett. He said he had never been more willing to investigate claims of a lack of signage at beaches across the country.

Neblett said also that lifeguards might soon have to be taught conversational foreign language courses.

The initial focus would likely be Spanish, German and French.

But he said the primary goal was to have all the signs in English.

The NCC boss explained that signs usually had universal codes and colours to assist beachgoers. (MR)
