Track and field’s greatest Olympian isn’t quite targeting a spot for Burke at the Summer Games as he wants his ward to focus on becoming the 100 metres champion at the IAAF World Junior Championships.
Lewis explained the strategy behind the 19-year-old’s progression at the just concluded National Championships after Burke fell short of qualifying for the Olympics in the 100 metres.
“I think he’s still a step away in the 100 metres because those guys are running under ten and my thing is the long term because I am going to be with Mario his entire career,” reasoned Lewis. (JM)
