Teachers’ pay issue pending

THREE MONTHS AFTER many of the country’s teachers’ pay was docked for attending two Barbados Union of Teachers (BUT) meetings, the matter is yet to be addressed.

Despite meeting with Minister of Education Ronald Jones last week, BUT president Pedro Shepherd said discussions on the docked salaries had not occurred as the union was told it was now a legal matter.

“The meeting was to discuss general issues in education,” Shepherd told the DAILY NATION at the weekend.

“But that particular [matter], we were told it was a legal matter and that it was the deferred from that particular meeting. (AD)
