THE BAYLEY FAMILY who lost their Holder’s Land, St Michael home to a fire on June 24 are this evening looking for a place to spend the night.

The family of 14 spent the last two weeks at Casa Grande hotel where the Welfare department provided accommodation.

However that arrangement came to an end yesterday. Reservations clerk with the hotel Coral McClean said she was given instructions that the department was no longer willing to foot the bill since the family had been offered a home but refused it.

Barbara Bayley, matriarch of the family, said they were offered two rental houses in St John but they were in dire need of repair.

One house she said had no floor but the rent for one house was $950 and the other $750.  Bayley said she did not want the police to intervene so she would leave but she had nowhere to go. (LK)
