A STORMY RELATIONSHIP between 12-year-old Shemar Weekes and his mother Julieanne Weekes emerged yesterday as the coroner investigating his death heard that the two traded swear words and Julieanne stopped beating Shemar after he “fly back” at her.

His former stepfather, Shawn Greaves, and his great aunt, Clarista “Mabel” Daniel, testified to the cursing and beatings Shemar endured, but Greaves said over time the pre-teen also cursed his mother and threatened to hit her, leading him to intervene in the relationship between the two. bloc-inquest

Daniel recounted how Shemar told her that his mother “can’t” hit him anymore because he would hit her back.

Shemar was found hanging at his home at Fryers Well, Checker Hall, St Lucy, on May 14, 2015, amid reports that he hanged himself after years of abuse at his mother’s hands. (AC)
