THE EMPLOYMENT RIGHTS TRIBUNAL yesterday adjourned the matter of Wendell Storey versus Paynes Bay Resort Inc. after counsel for the latter had not arrived almost an hour after the scheduled 11 a.m. start.

At 11:55 a.m. deputy chairman of the tribunal, Omari Drakes, announced it would be the final adjournment of the matter and that he would be drafting a letter to send to lawyers for both sides.

Storey, a former employee of the resort, is claiming unfair dismissal in the matter that started before the body on April 13.

Drakes, noting he could not give a date for the resumption of the matter, said he would have to speak to both sides and decide on a convenient date. However, he told the legal team representing Storey it was unlikely a date would be available before September since the tribunal had other engagements scheduled.

While noting that he wanted to take a balanced approach to the matter, Drakes said he did not know the reason why the opposing counsel did not attend the session yesterday and that would have to be ascertained before decisions were made. (LK)
