MEMBERS OF a Melrose, St Thomas family say they are reeling from embarrassment and emotional shock after a group of police officers “stormed” their property last Friday night, kicking down a door and breaking glass windows in hopes of finding a wanted young man.

One of the homeowners, 77-year-old matriarch Grace Lashley, told the MIDWEEK NATION during an interview on Sunday that her blood pressure had risen since the incident which involved her grandson Romario Lashley.

Police were allegedly seeking him in connection with the shooting of detective Shane Newton the same night of the raid.

Newton was hospitalised and underwent surgery for a broken collarbone.

Romario does not reside at the house but is from Arthur’s Seat in the same parish. (MR)
