EMCEE CARL ALFF PADMORE announced nine calypsonians to face defending monarch William Classic Waithe in the MQI/Mount Gay Pic-O-De-Crop competition finals slated for July 30 before a sparse audience at the National Stadium early Saturday morning.
It was around 1:30 that Padmore quickly read the names: Cave Shepherd All Stars’ Aziza, who sang One People One Nation and Bring Back Respect; Donella with De Vision and De Criteria; and Colin Spencer with No Trussing and Toilet Paper; De First Citizens/Digicel Big Show’s Adonijah with Dat Is A Bajan and Bashment Commentary; Adrian Clarke doing 49 not out and What Is A Politician; Chrystal Cummins-Beckles with That’s What Barbados Means To Me and Hall Of Fame; iWeb with Rights and Big Up; TC doing That Golden Age and Tek Wuh Yuh Get; and Headliners’ MRBLOOD who sang Female Monarchy and How To Get Away With Murder. Smokey Burke also of Headliners is the reserve with King Calypso and All De Way To De Bank.
