Tridents’ Pride broken

THE NATIONAL PRIDE and industry were missing as the Tridents Pride of Barbados’ franchise was battered and beaten at Kensington Oval yesterday.

The upshot was Trinbago Knight Riders rode away with a facile seven-wicket victory with 14 balls to spare in their mid-afternoon Hero Caribbean Premier League Twenty20 cricket match.

A total of 172 for four by the Tridents, who were sent in, proved inadequate on a placid pitch as the Knight Riders, led by an attacking 69 off 39 balls by Colin Munro, sped to 173 for three in 17.4 overs off a bowling attack lacking passion and purpose.

Munro, whose knock was studded with six sixes and two fours, dominated a match-winning 107-run second wicket stand with the solid opener Hashim Amla, who hit a solitary four in 31 off 34 balls.
