Samuels Cricketer Of The Year

MARLON SAMUELS was named Cricketer Of The Year at the fourth West Indies Cricket Board/West Indies Players’ Association awards ceremony on Tuesday night.

The 35-year-old Jamaican batsman had mixed fortunes at different levels of the game in 2015 but found favour with the judges at the ceremony, which was held at Hangar 10 in Antigua.

During the period under review, Samuels scored 484 runs at an average of 26.88 in nine Tests, 601 runs at an average of 46.33 in 15 One-Day Internationals and 11 runs at an average of 23.60 in five Twenty20 Internationals.

Samuels’ fellow Jamaican Stafanie Taylor was named the Women’s Player Of The Year.

In addition to the individual awards, members of the West Indies Under-19 team, West Indies women’s team and West Indies men’s team received special commemorative rings.

 The Under-19s won the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup on February 14 and the men and women won the World Twenty20 titles on  April 3.

ODI Player Of The Year: Marlon Samuels.

Women’s ODI Player Of The Year: Stafanie Taylor.

Test Player Of The Year: Darren Bravo.

T20 Player Of The Year: Chris Gayle.

Women’s T20 Player Of The Year: Stafanie Taylor.

Emerging Player Of The Year: Jomel Warrican.

WICB Lifetime Achievement Award: Clarvis Joseph.

WIPA Lifetime Achievement Award: Ralston Otto.

Women’s Player Of The Year: Stafanie Taylor.

Cricketer Of The Year: Marlon Samuels.
