Classic holding back 50 song

Share post:

REIGNING PIC-O-DE-CROP MONARCH Classic will be singing a song for Barbados’ golden jubilee.

Slated to be released in November, he told the DAILY NATION that he opted not to do a patriotic song during the Crop Over Festival but will do so closer to the 50th anniversary of Independence.

“Most of my songs are a challenge. I find that I tend to challenge myself in writing to go with a story, a theme that shows you’re thinking and out of the box. I don’t like predictable, straightforward calypso – that’s one of the reason I decided I’m not going to do a nationalistic song now,” Classic said.

“I’m going to do one in spouge and I’m doing it for November. They’re so many people singing nationalistic songs and unless you really find a different angle your song is just going to be another one of those. So, I don’t want to be doing just what everybody else is doing. I’ll let the guys do what they’re doing.” (GBM)
