THE GREAT-AUNT of 12-year-old Shemar Weekes and his mother squared off when the inquest into the boy’s death continued on Monday.

Clarista “Mabel” Daniel, the great-aunt of Shemar, was recalled to the witness stand for further questioning by Coroner Manila Renee based on other evidence coming out.

It ended up with Julieanne Weekes, Shemar’s mother, in questioning her aunt Daniel, accusing her of lying and exaggeration by saying Julieanne physically abused her son.

Daniel’s first response was to deny that she was lying and she also dismissed Julieanne’s claim that she told Shemar that if his mother cursed him to curse her back.

At one point Julieanne stated, “Mabel you telling lies and you know that” before she was stopped by the coroner. Daniel insisted both Shemar and Julieanne’s first child Kiendra, 19, were abused by her and that Kiendra was taken overseas by another great-aunt. (AC)
