Jones to take a closer look at maths results

THE MATHEMATICS SEGMENT of the Barbados Secondary Schools Entrance Exam (BSSEE) is set to be reviewed by the Ministry of Education.

This word came from Minister of Education Ronald Jones, who pinpointed the wording of the maths sums as a possible reason for the decline in performance.

“Mathematics has been a challenge. This year itself, there has been about a four per cent drop,” Jones told the media after a closing ceremony at the Erdiston Teachers’ Training College.

“People have argued that it was a little tough, that the paper this year was a little tough. But I don’t just want to say that it was tough. I’m going to sit down, we’re going to look at what happened over the years,” he said. (AD)
