Sada ‘hurt hamstring in the first round’

APPARENTLY Sada Williams could have avoided major injury after all.

An inside source revealed Williams reported pain in her right hamstring from the first round of the 200 metres, and thus should not have been allowed to run any further rounds, including the ill-fated final at the IAAF World Under-20 Championships in Poland.

The unnamed source disclosed details of that initial medical report after the sprint sensation was knocked out of the Rio Olympics with a hamstring strain suffered in that final.

“After the first round she had pain and tightness in the hamstring and it was treated and taped, [but] the 200 metres is a difficult race, and running in the bend is very difficult if you have something going on in your hamstring which would actually allow it to tear,” the source reasoned.
