DISRESPECTED! That’s how founder of the Clement Payne Movement David Comissiong feels about Government’s decision to allow Grand Kadooment

Speaking to the DAILY NATION yesterday morning at the Emancipation Statue, also known as the Bussa Statue, Haggatt Hall, St Michael, where a small crowd gathered to celebrate the historic day, Comissiong said as a Pan Africanist he felt “disappointed and disrespected”.

He told the close to 40 people that he saw no reason why Government could not have rescheduled Grand Kadooment until today, which is also another bank holiday.

“Government has disrespected themselves, they have disrespected their ancestors and they have disrespected the very concept of nationhood. If we have any meaningful sovereignty and nationhood, it is built on the foundation of the struggles of our ancestors against slavery and against neo-slavery of the post-emancipation period. (RB)
